Syncope.

The process through which a triconsonantal word removes the variable vowel between the 2^nd and 3^rd consonants, contracting them together before adding a different vowel to the end.

Example:

baraz (“iron, metal”) > banzât (“pair of metals”)

karab (“horse”) > karbî (“mare”)
